Language & Computation

Week Two - 9.00-10.30 - Level: I

Room: N1

Abstract

Experimental work is increasingly an important part of understanding human language use in context. The goal of this course is to introduce students to the range of experimental work in pragmatics and to give handson experiences in designing webbased pragmatics experiments. By using the burgeoning field of experimental pragmatics as a case study, the course will present introduction to the use of simple web-based studies on Amazon Mechanical Turk. Guided by the instructors, participants will design, implement, analyze, and interpret an experiment on the web over the course of the week.
